Billy-Ray Belcourt
Biography
Billy-Ray Belcourt, 21, from the Driftpile Cree Nation, is completing a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) at the University of Alberta in Comparative Literature. He also spent a semester in Kassel through the Canadian Summer School in Germany. He is a 2015 Iris Marion Young Diversity Scholar and a Youth Leader with the Native Youth Sexual Health Network, and was a recipient of the 2015 Peter Lougheed Scholarship. At the U of A, he is the President of the Aboriginal Student Council and a founding member of the Indigenous Feminist Collective. He has presented his work at the Native American and Indigenous Studies Association annual meeting and has published in Societies.
